Under 5 Health in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has achieved remarkable progress in population and health over the past 30 years and are on track to achieve the set targets of all health indicators under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In the last 15 years, under-five mortality rate has declined from 114.2 deaths per 1000 live births to 30.8 in 2019 [1] . This decline is correlated to reduction in the infant mortality rate from 81.07 in 1995 to 24.73 in 2020 [2] and the neonatal mortality rate was 52.9 per 1000 live births in 1995 to a reduced 19.1 in 2019 [3] . The proposed SDG target aims to reduce neonatal mortality to at least as low as 12 deaths per 1,000 live births and under-5 mortality to at least as low as 25 deaths per 1,000 live births.
